How to Play ColorQueens

ColorQueens is a visual logic puzzle about placing queens on a colorful board. The rules are easy to learn: every color, row, and column needs one queen, and queens cannot conflict diagonally.

If you already like Sudoku, the solving rhythm will feel familiar. You are looking for the move that must be true, not trying random squares.

The Objective

Finish the board by placing every queen legally. A solved board has one queen in each color region, one queen in each row, and one queen in each column.

Step 1: Find the Tightest Color

Start with the color region that has the fewest possible squares. Small regions usually create the first clue because there are fewer legal places for a queen to hide.

If a region has only one square that does not break a row, column, or diagonal rule, that queen is forced.

Step 2: Use Rows and Columns

Once a queen is placed, every other square in that row and column is no longer available. This is the easiest way to reduce the board.

A good habit is to re-scan nearby colors after every placement. One queen can turn a loose region into a forced move.

Step 3: Check Diagonals Before Committing

Diagonal conflicts are the rule beginners miss most often. Before you place a queen, trace the diagonals and make sure the move does not block another color's only legal square.

Step 4: Solve by Elimination

The strongest ColorQueens strategy is elimination. Ask which squares are impossible, then place the queen only when the remaining option is clear.
